BRIEF: Lebanese civil servants to face corruption charges

Sept. 02--BEIRUT -- The Finance Ministry has referred two employees to the state prosecution's office on charges of corruption, according to a statement released Tuesday.

A tax controller in the Baabda Property Department was accused of taking bribes. Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil also referred an employee from the Department of Real Estate Appraisal to the prosecution's office for investigation over allegations he violated procedures.

Khalil asked concerned agencies in the ministry to take stricter measures to apply the law in all of the ministry's directorates and to work in accordance with set standards or face legal and judicial measures.
