Kelly’s session will first outline the difference between desktop and enterprise accessibility; PDFs created at the desktop level are done so by a single individual, whereas PDFs created at the enterprise level are generally personalized customer communications – such as credit card and bank statements, telecommunications billings and tax notices – automatically generated by an application, typically within the IT department. She will then illustrate all the elements at the PDF tag level that need to be addressed for accessibility and full usability by persons using screen reader software. Kelly will also offer strategies, approaches and solutions for creating universally accessible PDFs for information such as critical financial and health documents.
The Web Accessibility Training Day will have general information sessions in the morning and technical and policy tracks in the afternoon. The event will focus on giving private companies, government entities, educational institutions and other organizations the tools necessary to make their services and customer communications information universally accessible.
