Norway : SCHLUMBERGER bags 1.15 BILLION Norwegian kroner contract from STATOIL

Schlumberger, an energy services giant declared that it has secured an integrated drilling services contract valuing 1.15 billion Norwegian kroner ($184 million) from Statoil.

The contract calls for Statoil s operations in the Norwegian continental shelf including Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord, Tordis/Vigdis and Visund licences.

The contract initially will run for two years and also has three optional extensions, each for two years. It is set for commencement from 1 September.

Under the contract, Schlumberger will be offering services such as the delivery of directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), logging while drilling (LWD) and mud logging services, as well as delivery of real time data transfer, integrated operations, onshore support, drilling optimization and drilling equipment.

Geir Tungesvik, senior vice president, drilling and well in Statoil said, The contract secures supply of services and competent personnel, which ensures cost efficient operations through standardization and focus on the quality of tools and services. It contributes to Statoil s focus area of safe and efficient drilling.
