Aug. 08--Cassandra Gaines said she was floored when a television production company sought her help locating cooks for a new competition series.

"I want to see somebody from Oklahoma be on a cooking competition, especially from Muskogee, to represent us," said Gaines, the organizer behind the Martin Luther King Soul Food Cook-Off.

Emily Sweet, senior casting producer with Relativity Television, said they are looking for new talented cooks with lots of blue ribbons.

"We are producing the show for a major network related to all things food," Sweet said. "We are doing a new cooking competition series."

Sweet said it doesn't matter what your age or food specialty may be as long as you can cook. The show will feature head-to-head competitions.

Gaines will not be able to be a contestant, but she is able to help recruit.

"It will be up to the network to pick them," Gaines said.

Sweet said her company is on the hunt for new talent.

"We are looking to get in touch with people as soon as possible," Sweet said.

Gaines said she was very pleased that the production company sought her out to help them.

"I'm honored they contacted me," she said. "We got Hollywood connects."

According to its website, Relativity Television has 70 projects in active production, including 17 original series on air or that will air in the upcoming television season. The company launched in 2008 as RelativityREAL and was renamed Relativity Television in 2013.

Some of the company's projects are MTV's "Catfish," Food Network's "Great Food Truck Race" and "Trisha's Southern Kitchen."

Filming for the show is to begin later this summer.
