Rep. Peters Introduces Bill to Modify Grace Period Prior to Repayment Period for Certain Federal Direct Loans

WASHINGTON, Aug. 8 -- Rep. Scott Peters, D-Calif., has introduced legislation (H.R. 5399) to "modify the grace period prior to the repayment period for certain Federal direct loans and to exclude from Federal income taxation certain employer-provided student loan assistance."

The bill was introduced on Aug. 1 and was co-sponsored by Rep. Juan C. Vargas, D-Calif.

The legislation was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Education and the Workforce Committee.
