Aug. 08--TWIN FALLS -- Season tickets for Magic Valley Symphony are now on sale. This season is called "Silver Reflections" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Theodore Anchor Hadley, the symphony's director of music and conductor.
"The Symphony said, 'Let's celebrate,' so I said, 'I'll invite a few friends,'" Hadley said in a press release. "The more, the merrier. The stage will be full, the music will be memorable, and fun may prevail. It will be a celebration."
An individual ticket for the four-concert season will cost $30. The "friends and family" group ticket is $100 and admits four adults or two adults with up to four children. Season tickets offer a discount from individual concert ticket prices.
The season opener Oct. 12 will feature the winners of the 2014 Youth Soloist Competition: soprano Jocelyn Taylor, duo pianists Johnathan and Jacqueline Rasmussen, and pianist Lillian Whitney performing Mozart, Saint-Saens, and Poulenc. Magic Valley Chorale and high school choirs will join together to sing in the holiday season with concerts Dec. 4 and 5.
The season will continue Feb. 27, with a guest appearance by Scott Farkas, the new percussion instructor in the College of Southern Idaho Department of Music, who will perform a marimba concerto, and show there's more to the percussion section than just drumming.
Hadley will conclude the season with "Ted's Pops," with the Magic Valley Youth Orchestra. This program will feature Hadley's personal all-time favorites from stage, screen and video games.
Magic Valley Symphony is a community orchestra of volunteer adult musicians, which has performed continuously for more than 50 years. Adult musicians of all levels are invited to participate. String players are most needed, and no formal audition is required. Non-performing volunteer opportunities are also available with the Symphony League.
