Aug. 08--A thief who broke into a Gig Harbor woman's home to steal her purse later used her credit card to rent movies and buy cigarettes, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Crime Stoppers has released a surveillance photo of the thief, who burglarized the woman's home July 30. The same morning, he used the victim's credit card to rent movies from a Redbox machine and to buy cigarettes at an Albertson's store on 51st Avenue.

Deputies said he might also be responsible for a car prowl in the same neighborhood where somebody stole electronics and golf clubs worth thousands of dollars.

He is described as white, in his 40s with a slender build and receding gray hair. He was wearing a green T-shirt and dark shorts when he used the woman's credit card.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
