Pound Retreats Following BoE Rate Decision

BRUSSELS (Alliance News) - As expected, the Bank of England retained base rate at 0.5% and its total asset purchase facility at GBP 375 billion at 7:00 am ET Thursday. After the announcement, the pound retreated from early highs against the other major currencies.

The pound was trading at 1.6849 against the greenback, 1.5306 against the franc, 0.7939 against the euro and 172.38 against the yen around 7:02 am ET.
