BRADENTON BEACH -- Police are investigating after a credit card skimmer was found on a gas station pump in Bradenton Beach.

The employee found the device during checks of various locations, according to Diaz. The equipment had last been checked two weeks earlier so investigators say the skimmer was attached sometime in between.
"I think that the reason they started checking them was because they started receiving calls from customers," Diaz said.

Police are still waiting for copies of video surveillance footage from that time period, but Diaz said the camera does not have a good view of the pump where the skimmer was attached.
"Somebody that does this, it usually takes them two to three minutes," Diaz said.
Diaz said he is also reaching out to other local law enforcement agencies to see if they have had similar incidents. He also intends to reach out to the
Diaz urges anyone who used a card at the station during this period to keep a watchful eye on their credit card statements and report any fraudulent charges at the first sign. Card users should he checking their card on a weekly basis regularly, he added.
