Early, cheaper tickets on sale for Stage 9 Live

Aug. 07--Advance tickets are now available for a concert by national touring artists Nikki Moddelmog and Shane Marler, the next performance in the Stage 9 Live series benefiting the Hutchinson Theatre Guild.

The concert, which also will feature "the Doctor of Bass," Mark Foley, is at 8:30 p.m.Aug. 23 at Stage 9, 9 S. Main St. Doors will open at 8 p.m.

The music of Moddelmog and Marler blends many American styles, including blues, jazz, Americana and works by singer/songwriters. Moddelmog hails from Moundridge, and Marler lives in Peabody. Foley is a professor of double bass, electric bass and music theory at Wichita State University and also serves as principal double bass for the Wichity Symphony Orchestra.

Early tickets are on sale at Apron Strings, 1 S. Main St., or online at for $20 until Aug. 15, when the price increases to $25. Soft drinks, snacks, sangria and beer will be available during the performance and are included with a ticket.

Stage 9 Live is a periodic series of fundraising concerts. The first show was held June 14 and featured Kansas City-area band Olassa. The next show in the series is scheduled for Nov. 22, when Minneapolis-based Bernie King and the Guilty Pleasures make their Kansas debut.
