Aug. 07--Boise-based U.S. Ecology thinks this year will be better than it previously expected.
The company said Thursday that it made net income of $6.9 million in the quarter ending June 30. That was a decrease from $7.2 million at the same time last year, partly because of costs on business development.
The haz-mat and industrial waste cleanup company's recent $465.9 million acquisition of an environmental services company, EQ Holdings, contributed about 2 cents of earnings per share during the quarter.
Total revenue for the quarter was $66 million, up 44 percent from the same quarter last year, the company said.
Because of a "strong first-half performance" and the addition of EQ Holdings, CEO Jeff Feeler said company managers expect earnings of $1.70 to $1.80 per share, instead of the $1.60 to $1.70 they previously predicted.
