Aug. 06--Have no fear, Lowcountry SEC fans. The SEC Network is coming.

On the same day the SEC Network and satellite giant DirecTV announced a deal, Hargray Communications announced Tuesday that it has finalized an agreement with the SEC Network and will have the network in its line-up in time for its launch at 5 p.m.Aug. 14.

The network will kick off its inaugural season by airing the game between South Carolina and Texas A&M on Aug. 28.

"We are very excited to bring the SEC Network to our customers," Hargray vice president of sales and marketing Gerrit Albert said in a release. "For both SEC fans and fans of college sports in general, the network will be a great new addition to our sports programming line-up."

Hargray customers who subscribe to the Digital Premiere and Digital Lite packages will receive the SEC Network as part of the ESPN package at no additional cost, according to Hargray spokesperson Robert Gilbert.

"There will be no charge at all for the foreseeable future," Gilbert said.

According to Gilbert, the only package that would not get the SEC Network is the Hargray Essentials package, the basic cable package. He said the SEC Network would occupy Ch. 416 in the high definition packages.

The SEC Network and its accompanying digital platform will air more than 1,000 live events in its first year, including at least 45 exclusive SEC football games, more than 100 men's basketball games, 60 women's basketball games, 75 baseball games, and events across all of the SEC's 21 sports.

The SEC Network already had deals with most major satellite and cable providers, including Dish Network, Time Warner and Comcast. With the addition of DirectTV and Hargray, the network will be available in more than 87 million households.

Hargray provides Internet, television, and communications services in Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties in South Carolina, and Chatham County, Georgia.
