Aug. 06--The merger of Monroe County Bank and United Bank, which was announced in early July, has been approved and finalized.

As of Friday Monroe County Bank with offices in Forsyth and Bolingbroke officially became United Bank, according to a news release.

There will be no immediate changes to bank accounts or services, and customers should continue to use checks, deposit slips and ATM/debit cards as they have before. The only change is that former Monroe County customers may use United Bank ATMs with no charge.

A full conversion of banking operations will occur Sept. 12, and customers will be notified before that date about changes to their accounts, the release stated.

For more information, call 994-1000 or the call center, which is available 7 a.m.-11 p.m. seven days a week at 770-358-7211.
