'Searching for Sugar Man' at Istanbul Modern

August 4, 2014

ISTANBUL (CIHAN)- The Istanbul Modern hosts a special screening of the Oscar-winning documentary "Searching for Sugar Man" this week, on the sidelines of its ongoing exhibition "Plurivocality," a show that explores the connections between music and the visual arts.

The screening, to be held at a temporary open-air cinema that is to be set up in the museum's courtyard, is set for Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

"Searching for Sugar Man," the debut feature by Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul, who died this May, is a portrait of the 1970s American singer-songwriter Sixto "Sugar Man" Rodriguez. The film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2013. The film will be shown with subtitles in Turkish. Admission to the screening is free but reservations are required.
