Implementation of Issyk-Kul Sustainable Development Project requires $37.5 million

Issyk-Kul Sustainable Development Project will require $37.5 million, Turdubek Mambetov, Director of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction and Public Utilities, said in an interview with Tazabek.

This project is implemented to support environmental management and to improve provision of municipal services in Issyk-Kul region, including better access to drinking water.

The project is carried out with Asian Development Bank's funding - $13.5 million grant and $16.5 million loan. The government co-finances $7.5 million.

"Rehabilitation of 4 wells in Balykchy town is in progress now. Repair is carried out at 10 schools of Balykchy. Three schools are under construction. Rehabilitation of the sewage collector in Balykchy continues. The international tenders were held in July for construction and rehabilitation of water supply systems and wells in Balyckhy and Cholpon-Ata, rehabilitation of water treatment systems at schools of Cholpon-Ata and Karakol, construction of sewage in Karakol," he added.

The State Architecture and Construction Agency prepared a program on development of water supply and treatment systems in settlements of Kyrgyzstan 2014-2024. The program is under consideration of the government now, Turdubek Mambetov stated.
