Aug. 31--Holiday World's first three-day, Labor Day weekend special event, "Red, White & Bluegrass Festival," continues Sunday and Monday with well-known bluegrass groups entertaining. And the concerts are included in the regular admission price, officials said.
The Santa Claus, Indiana, theme park is featuring these bands on Sunday in the Hoosier Celebration Theater: Rambling Rooks, from 2:30 to 4 p.m.; The SteelDrivers, from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.; and Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Monday lineup is: The Boxcars, 12:45 to 2:15 p.m.; Claire Lynch Band, 2:30 to 4 p.m.; and Lonesome River Band, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
For more information, visit the park's website at HolidayWorld.com/Bluegrass or call 1-877-463-2645.
--If the Labor Day Sale ads are any indication, Sunday and Monday should be good retail shopping days. Some national clothing store chains are reporting that consumers didn't buy as many "back to school" items this year.
The National Retail Federation reported that household spending on clothes for back-to-school is basically flat compared to last year. In the NRF's surveys, consumers said they planned to spend $231.30 on clothes this season compared to $230.85 last year.
The Labor Day sales also seem to have started earlier this year. At any rate, it looks like bargains for clothing to home improvement and more may be available for the taking.
