Fifth Third named the official bank of Winterfest Boat Parade

Fifth Third Bank announced Thursday that it will be the official bank of the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.

The parade is expected to draw more than 1 million spectators to the shores of downtown Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 13.

"Fifth Third Bank is honored to support this fun community event," said Jim Ray, senior vice president and commercial banking executive at Fifth Third Bank in South Florida. "We look forward to being a part of 'The World's Most Watched Boat Parade."

Fifth Third has three branches in Broward and four in Palm Beach counties.

Denyse Cunningham has returned to Bonnet House Museum & Gardens as its curator, the Fort Lauderdale attraction announced this week.

Cunningham previously served as Bonnet House curator from 1996 to 2002.

Today she will be responsible for overseeing the restoration and preservation of the 35-acre estate nestled along Fort Lauderdale beach.

Most recently Cunningham served as the curator for the Broward County Historical Commission, Bonnet House said.

Feeding South Florida mobilizes for Hunger Action Month

The nonprofit food bank Feeding South Florida will celebrate National Hunger Action Month in September with a series of activities, many featuring orange -- the color of hunger awareness.

Landmarks will display orange lights Sept. 4 including the fountain at The Breakers Palm Beach and the Bank of America building in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

A 24-hour sort-a-thon is planned starting Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. to sort donated food in three-hour shifts. Up to 800 volunteers are needed at the food bank's headquarters in Pembroke Park. Register by Sept. 10.

Publishing outfit names new broadcast executive

PPI Group has appointed Anthony Heywood as vice president, broadcast operations effective immediately.

Heywood will lead a team of videographers and editors to produce productions such as in-cabin programming for numerous cruise line clients, destination videos, and other tourism-related commercials, the Fort Lauderdale outfit announced this week.

He'll also oversee all operational details including project development, creative direction, scriptwriting, pre-production planning, filming, directing, and editing of productions, PPI said.

The company specializes in custom publishing, video production, and onboard and shoreside programs for the cruise and travel industries. Its flagship publication Porthole Cruise Magazine offers readers a variety of cruise and travel-related features.
