China Merchants Holdings (Int'l) H1 Net up 11.1%

SHANGHAI, August 28, SinoCast -- China Merchants Holdings (International) posts that it made HKD 2.15 billion net profits in the first half, up 11.1% year on year; recurring profits were up 15.7% to HKD 2.11 billion. It achieved 83.46 HK cents per share.

The company's EBITDA was up 7.3% to HKD 6.43 billion; EBITDA of port business was up 9.3% to HKD 5.22 billion, representing 81.1% of the company's EBITDA.

The company recorded a container throughput of 38.52 million TEUs and a bulk cargo throughput of 181 million tons in the first half, up 18.1% and 2.6%. Its dry cargo container and refrigerated container sales were up 0.7% to 700,000 TEUs.

The company's mainland ports recorded a container throughput of 28.53 million TEUs in the first half, up 2.3%; ports in Hong Kong and Taiwan recorded a container throughput of 3.73 million TEUs, up 12.9%.
