Williams-Sonoma matches Street 2Q forecasts

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM) on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $50.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the San Francisco-based company said it had profit of 53 cents.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The company posted revenue of $1.04 billion in the period, also meeting Street forecasts.

For the current quarter ending in October, Williams-Sonoma expects its per-share earnings to range from 58 cents to 63 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $1.1 billion to $1.13 billion for the fiscal third quarter.

Williams-Sonoma also released its full-year outlook. It expects annual earnings to be in the range of $3.07 to $3.17, with revenue ranging from $4.64 billion to $4.72 billion.

Williams-Sonoma shares have increased 29 percent since the beginning of the year. At the close of trading on Wednesday, shares were trading at $74.89, a rise of 26 percent in the last 12 months.
