United States : WIGWAG raises portion of $1.3 mln financing

Austin-based WigWag Inc., a home automation startup, declared that it is raising $685,000 of a planned $1.3 million financing.

The company added the capital from 8 investors.

WigWag was introduced in 2011 by two former executives of videoconferencing company LifeSize Communications Inc. The company developed a home automation product that s designed to for a wireless connection to sensors attached to a variety of appliances such as lights and door openers.

WigWag over tripled a $50,000 funding goal by raising over $153,000 from 715 investors after just one month on crowdfunding website Kickstarter, in mid 2013. The company, founded by Ed Hemphill and Travis McCollum employed five workers in Austin and one in China at the time of the Kickstarter campaign.
