Stars to shine at salsa festival...

August 26, 2014

A MAJOR salsa festival that will take place in Bahrain this weekend will host some of the art's most accomplished dancers.

Colombian power couple Wilmar and Lizeth, World Cup Salsa 2014 finalist Gabriele Maccioni and three-time World Salsa champion Sheila de Jesus will attend the Bahrain Salsa Festival at Al Bander Resort in Sitra.

It will kick off today and will feature dozens of other famous dancers, who will take part in classes, live performances and sessions.

The closing ceremony will be held on Saturday at the Gulf Hotel at 9pm.

Wilmar and Lizeth have followed the dance route leading them to settle in Fujairah School of Arts teaching Tango, Milonga, salsa, porros, cubias, gaitas with fusion of Latin rhythms and social dances.

Young and energetic Gabriele Maccioni is a talented dancer as demonstrated when he became a finalist of the World Cup Salsa this year.

Be sure to watch out for a showdown with one of the other artists as they both perform for Salsache Dance Company.

Known as the "pride of Puerto Rico" Sheila de Jesus is joining the Bahrain Salsa Festival for her first trip to the region, giving women the chance to learn how to be a diva on the dance floor and men an opportunity to dance with a world champion.

Tickets for the three-day festival are priced at BD50 per person and are available online at www.bahrainsalsafestival.com.
