Dollar in lower 104 yen in early Tokyo trade

August 26, 2014

The dollar changed hands just above the 104 yen line in early Tokyo trading Wednesday, almost unchanged from its overnight levels in New York.

At 9 a.m., the dollar fetched 104.09-13 yen compared with 104.02-12 yen in New York and 103.88-90 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The euro was quoted at $ 1.3169-3170 and 137.07-14 yen against $1.3162-3172 and 136.99-137.09 yen in New York and $1.3193-3194 and 137.05-09 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday afternoon.

In New York, the dollar edged up against the safe-haven yen as rises in U.S. shares raised investors' risk appetite. The U.S. currency later eased back on moves to buy back the yen.
