BRIEF: Tigers' game-day concert series includes former Poison singer, country acts

Aug. 27--Country music acts Pat Green and Thompson Square and former Poison singer Bret Michaels will headline the University of Memphis'Tailgate Concert Series this football season.

The new concert series will take place near Tiger Lane and is sponsored by Horseshoe Casino Tunica.

Shows will be held before the first four home games, starting with local act Kevin and Bethany Paige from 3-6 p.m. Saturday before the Tigers' opener vs. Austin Peay.

The series then shifts to national performers with Green (Sept. 20), Thompson Square (Oct. 11) and Michaels (Oct. 31).

Concerts will be staged in the Tan lot just south of Tiger Lane, formally utilized by the M-Club. All concerts are free to the public and do not require a game ticket for admission. Games, food and beverage vendors and other attractions will also be part of the festivities surrounding the shows.

Exact show times will be announced once game times are solidified by the American Athletic Conference.
