Aug. 22--Mortgage foreclosures were less frequent in Lancaster County in June, a new report shows.

Lancaster County saw 1.48 percent of outstanding mortgages foreclosed in June, fewer than the 1.88 percent seen in June 2013, said data firm CoreLogic.

The local foreclosure rate was significantly better than the national foreclosure rate of 1.70 percent for that month.

CoreLogic's new report is the latest evidence of an improving economy here, echoing the falling unemployment rate.

For instance, the Lancaster County foreclosure rate at the start of 2013 was 1.95 percent.

In a related trend, Lancaster County also saw fewer delinquent mortgages in June.

CoreLogic reported that 3.34 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent in June.

That compared to 3.65 percent for the same period last year.
