China H1 Nonferrous Metal Industry Profits down 1.9%

SHANGHAI, August 25, SinoCast -- China's ten non-ferrous metals output was 24.43 million tons in the first seven months, up 5.9% year on year; the growth rate was down 4.4 percentage points. Non-ferrous metal industry profited CNY 74.6 billion in the first half, down 1.9% year on year, according to data by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Electrolytic aluminum output was 13.52 million tons in the seven months, up 7.5%; the growth rate fell 1 percentage point. Copper output was up 9.8%, down 2.6 percentage points. Lead output was down 4.1%, compared with a growth of 10.9% in the period last year. Zinc output was up 2.7%, down 8.2 percentage points. Alumina output was up 5.9%, down 4.2 percentage points.

Non-ferrous metal mining and dressing profits were CNY 25.9 billion, down 14.2%; non-ferrous metal smelting and pressing profits were CNY 48.8 billion, up 6.1%.
