Aug. 22--WHEELERSBURG -- The Tommy Webb Band is among the musical groups set to perform in the Highway 52 Bluegrass Series set Sept. 20, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Living With A Cause Theater in 8805 Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg.
Stacey Wright, booking and public relations for Living With A Cause Theater, as well as The Kevin Prater Band said the Highway 52 Bluegrass Series will include local, regional, and national acts.
"I have been asked by the Living With A Cause Theater, located at 8805 Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg to start a new Concert series at their facility called the Highway 52 Bluegrass Series. The series will feature national, Local and regional Bluegrass bands, of which I have several booked," Wright said.
Although the Highway 52 series began in July, According to Wright, the three shows were poorly attended. She said she attributes the low turnout to other events that were also going on at the same in the community.
The theater uses it proceeds to benefit Military Families in crisis, victims of ALS, cancer, and many other health related issues and just helping anyone in need.
Wright said the Living With A Cause Theater has the potential to serve as an idea location for musical gatherings for the area.
"The venue has everything to become a Mecca of entertainment to the community as well as being able to offer a practice venue, recording studio, affordable lodging, all of which will bring bands. Bands bring people out to spend money in the community," she said.
Tommy Webb of the Tommy Webb Band said he and his band members are looking forward to performing for the Highway 52 Series Sept. 20. The Tommy Webb Band was established in 2005.
"We have had three singles that have done really well for us, the song, 'If it weren't for Bluegrass Music I'd Go Crazy, and it went to number one back in 2007. Then we had a song called, 'Tear Drop Inn,' and it went to number four on the Bluegrass chart. We also had a song, 'Rock-n-Roll to Bill Monroe and it went to number eight," Webb said.
He said his Webb has not released an album since 2011, but is currently working on another album whose release is forthcoming.
"We play most Bluegrass, but we do some country, and gospel and try to mix it up for folks," he said.
In addition to Tommy Webb, the other band members include Jamie Shannon, who plays the mandolin, Shane Moore plays bass, and Jim Burchett who plays the banjo for the band. Webb said the band has played as far as Findland, and Canada, as well many parts of the United States.
