Royal Bank Q3 profit rises to $2.38 billion, most units post record results

TORONTO - Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY) had $2.378 billion of net income in its third quarter, up four per cent from a year earlier.

The bank says its Canadian banking, capital markets, wealth management and insurance businesses all had record earnings.

The quarter also included a $40-million loss related to the sale of its Jamaican operations.

Excluding that item, RBC would have had $2.418 billion of net income in the three months ended July 31.

RBC's third-quarter profit amounted to $1.59 per share under standard accounting and $1.64 per share on an adjusted basis.

In the same quarter last year, Royal Bank had $2.285 billion of net income before adjustments.
