"Right now, put that application in," said Moore. "It closes when we fill it. The sooner the better."
The positions currently open including auto body, auto painter, electrical technician II/III, gunsmith, mechanic, sheet metal and sandblaster.
"Skilled type laborers," said Moore."The jobs that we fill support the Marine civilian work force, who are experts in their trades. We're like the surge for that. They maintain the expertise, we augment that, work side by side."
Moore said URS is looking for individuals with three to five years of experience in their respective field, or extensive training in trade or technical school.
"A lot of them need three to five years' experience," said Moore. "We'll likely employ students coming from places like Albany Tech. Each applicant's an individual and at the interview we'll assess their overall experience or knowledge."
When asked, Moore said he could not guarantee the length of employment for any of the jobs, saying that was dependent upon the government's need.
"We cannot guarantee the duration (of employment) because the mission could change," Moore said. "We support the government mission and if the mission does change, we have to augment or adjust accordingly. We're here to support the government as they need."
URS was first awarded its contract at MCLB in
"We're going to be here for another couple of years, hopefully longer," Moore said. "A lot of it's based on performance. We support the civilian work force and, as work increases, we add personnel to support that."
