INDIA SMARTPHONE GROWTH SLIPS, BUT SAMSUNG STILL AT TOP

India has witnessed drop in smartphone sales growth rate to 84 percent during Apr-Jun 2014 from 186 percent growth rate during Jan-Mar 2014. Smartphone sales in the country increased by 84 percent to 18.42 million units in Apr-Jun 2014 from 10.02 million units in Apr-Jun 2013, said research firm IDC. Sales of smartphones stood at 17.59 units in Jan-Mar 2014, up 186 percent year-on-year. According to IDC, Samsung is the leader in the Indian smartphone market with a market share of 29 percent, followed by Micromax (18 percent), Karbonn (eight percent) and Lava (six percent).
