United Kingdom : NCC Group certifies Skyscape Cloud Services with Cyber Essentials Plus

August 20, 2014

Global information assurance firm, NCC Group, has assessed and certified Skyscape Cloud Services with Cyber Essentials Plus.

Cyber Essentials, a new Government-backed and industry supported scheme, provides businesses with clarity on good basic cyber security practice.

On top of the self-assessed standard certification, businesses can opt for Cyber Essentials Plus, a series of tests to validate the self-certification claims and ability to repel basic attacks against clients and Internet infrastructure. This is carried out by an external certifying company using a range of tools and techniques.

Robert Horton, European managing director of security consulting at NCC Group said: Skyscape Cloud Services must be commended for being proactive and clearly showing it takes cyber security very seriously.

"Other businesses should be taking note and following its lead.

NCC Group s assessment was focused on the management, configuration and use of Skyscape Cloud Services' internal ICT systems, including assessment of end-user devices. It sought to identify whether they could be compromised in a variety of different attack scenarios.

John Godwin, head of compliance and information assurance at Skyscape Cloud Services said: Having already completed the self-assessed Cyber Essentials Scheme with IASME, we realised the additional assurance benefits of the independently-checked Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

"We selected NCC Group for this task, and it provided a professional service throughout their engagement.

"They have a proven track record of providing experienced consultants who are able to understand the architecture of our infrastructure, which ensured that they were able to undertake an effective assessment against the Cyber Essentials Plus requirements.

NCC Group is one of the first assessors to carry out a Cyber Essentials Plus certification, having initially worked closely with CREST and CESG to develop the Cyber Essentials framework.
