Aug. 21--They serve up music on a stick at the Minnesota State Fair.
No, seriously: Minnesota Music on a Stick, featuring Bob Mould, Cloud Cult and others, will be presented Aug. 30 at the state fair grandstand.
That's just one of 12 shows at the grandstand, ranging from country to soul to pop to amateur talent. It all starts today, with a concert by Toby Keith, and runs through Labor Day, when classic rockers Journey will take the stage.

The Bandshell's nightly schedule includes Blood, Sweat & Tears featuring Bo Bice tonight and Friday; Dr. Dog on Aug. 27 and 28, and Buckwheat Zydeco on Aug. 29 and 30.
The Bazaar After Dark schedule includes G.B. Leighton on Aug. 27 and 28, and the Belfast Cowboys on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
At the Leinie Lodge Bandshell, daytime entertainers include the 34th Infantry Div. Red Bull Band on Monday and Tuesday, the Wendinger Polka Band on Aug. 29 and 30, and Marcia Ball on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
The Bazaar features world music, including the Native Pride Dancers on Saturday and Sunday, the Iny Asian Dance Theater on Aug. 27 and 28, and Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca on Aug. 29 and 30.
The new Shell's Stage has music, comedy and variety daily, including the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra on Saturday and Sunday, the Looney Lutherans variety show on Aug. 25 and 26, and the Minnesota Flatpicking Guitar and Duet Championships on Aug. 29 and 30.
Meanwhile, Shell's Stage at Sunset features Chastity Brown today and Friday, Deke Dickerson and the Trashmen on Aug. 27 and 28, and The 4onthefloor on Aug. 29 and 30.
