August 21, 2014

By Megan Kennedy, The Lima News, Ohio

Aug. 21--LIMA -- Memorial Hall has been ordered to no longer accept contracts for rentals or leases for the space, as voted by Allen County commissioners.

The Civic Center's Board is now directed to "manage rentals on the book at a different location," according to Commissioner Jay Begg.

The commissioners cited safety concerns as their top concern with the facility, followed by the cost to keep it operational.

The county-owned facility will recieve a formal letter from the commissioners stating the orders within the next few days.

Memorial Hall, built in 1908, is a historic performing arts center at 120 W. Elm St., Lima. It housed events such as Pickle's Blues Extravaganza and the annual National Day of Prayer.
