Tokyo stocks rise in morning on weaker yen

Tokyo stocks rose Thursday morning on buying bolstered by a rise in the U.S. dollar, which traded at a four-and-a-half-month high against the yen.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 121.37 points, or 0.79 percent, from Wednesday to 15,575.82. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 9.46 points, or 0.74 percent, at 1,289.10.

Major gainers included rubber products and insurance, as well as oil and coal products.
