Aug. 20--Luminal Inc., a Frederick-based cybersecurity firm, received $451,000 from the Maryland Venture Fund of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.

The funds, part of a $10 million funding round, were raised through venture capital and other entities via InvestMaryland, designed to help small high-tech Maryland companies grow.

Last year, Luminal, which relocated to Frederick from West Virginia, was presented $600,000 from the state's venture capital firm. The company will use the funds to expand its customer base and product availability in providing security in the cloud and minimize threats to personal information and vital infrastructure.
