Azusa Small Business Seminar Offers Millions in Tax Relief

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 20 -- The California State Board of Equalization issued the following news release:

On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Member George Runner and BOE Chairman Jerome E. Horton will host the free Azusa Small Business Seminar to provide small-to-medium-sized businesses with information about millions of dollars in tax credits and refunds and business loan assistance. Attendees will learn about traditional and nontraditional capital and have complex tax laws simply explained, plus have the opportunity to meet their elected representatives who make decisions that affect small businesses.

The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the City of Azusa Auditorium, 213 East Foothill Boulevard, Azusa, CA 91702. Check-in for the event begins at 8:00 a.m. You may register for the seminar online at www.boe.ca.gov/seminars or by calling 1-888-847-9652.

"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but every day owners face challenges with California's complicated tax laws," said Board Member George Runner. "As their elected taxpayer advocate, I want to make sure small business owners can be successful and avoid California's tax traps."

"I highly recommend that local business owners come to our seminar on August 27th. There will be information on a wide array of state and federal resources and services, as well as the new law providing partial sales tax exemptions for qualified purchases and tax credits," Chairman Horton said.

Senator Ed Hernandez, Azusa Mayor Joseph R. Rocha, the Azusa Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring the seminar and encourage local entrepreneurs to attend and make the most of this opportunity that could help them expand and maintain their businesses.
