India : EX-BOB CMD SS MUNDRA joins RBI as a Deputy Governor for a three-year term

The Ex-Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda - Subhash Sheoratan Mundra on Thursday has assumed charge as the Fourth Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year term.

This position was lying vacant since Dr KC Chakraborty s departure in April this year.

Mr. Mundra has rich experience of over thirty years in the banking and financial sector.

The newly appointed Deputy Governor of RBI will manage banking supervision, currency management, financial stability, rural credit, customer service and also the human resources & security of the country s apex bank.

Mr. Mundra, who was born on 18th July 1954, holds a Masters Degree in Commerce and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (CAIIB). He started his career as a Probationary Officer with Bank of Baroda, one of the top lenders of India in March 1977.

During his 37-year long banking career, he has played many key roles comprising leading the European operations (UK) of Bank of Baroda prior to his promotion to the post of Executive Director of Union Bank of India in September 2010. He was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda in January last year.
