FIRMA Foreign Exchange Corporation recently donated $15,000 to the Bissell Centre. The Bissell Centre is an organization aimed at eliminating poverty in the community by empowering people to move from poverty to prosperity. After a fire in September 2013, they had a second fire in June of this year at their Thrift Shoppe's temporary location.
Approximately 5,000 to 6,000 people rely on the Bissell Centre Thrift Shoppe every month for items such as clothing and household goods. The store also employed 13 people and generated net revenues of $60,000 annually which supported various Bissell centre programs. The fire destroyed all the contents of their temporary store location which included over 100,000 articles of clothing. The Bissell Centre had a goal to raise $25 000 to re-open their Thrift Shoppe in October.
