United Labels AG (ISIN: DE 0005489561, WKN: 548956) managed to lift its consolidated revenue by 2% year on year in the first half of 2014, taking the figure to EUR14.2 million (prev. year: EUR13.9 million). Overall, the Group's order backlog and revenue recognised for the financial year to date are EUR4.1 million or 18.9% higher than in the same period a year ago. Total order backlog rose by 59% to EUR13.8 million, the highest figure over a period spanning eight quarters. This forward momentum was attributable to measures introduced in the form of new marketing and growth concepts as well as the decision to centralise sales for Central and Northern Europe in Germany. It was also driven by the ongoing refinement of the company's portfolio of high-impact licences. At EUR0.5 million (prev. year: EUR0.2 million), earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were up markedly on the figure posted for the same period a year ago. Group earnings also improved after accounting for depreciation and amortisation, with EBIT increasing to EUR0.1 million (prev. year: EUR-0.1 million). This performance illustrates the desired impact of the Group's ongoing streamlining programme and measures to optimise all areas of business. The company will be looking to exploit further growth by pursuing expansion in its B2C business that includes existing airport shops and by extending the e-commerce activities of its subsidiary Elfen Service GmbH through the additional integration of the children's textiles range of United Labels. In the core fields of business currently operated by the company - the sale of merchandise relating to cartoons/comics within the Special Retail and Key Account segments - future growth will be managed in accordance with the company's policy on profitability and earnings. Looking to the current financial year as a whole, the company has confirmed its forecast issued at the beginning of the year, with projected revenue growth of 10-20% in 2014 and Group earnings at the break-even point.
