BEIJING, August 18, SinoCast -- Commercial banks' outstanding non-performing loans (NPL) reached CNY 694.4 billion as of the end of June 2014, increasing for 11 consecutive quarters, and NPL ratio was 1.08%, up 0.08 percentage points over the beginning of this year, according to China Banking Regulatory Commission.
Outstanding NPL grew CNY 102.3 billion over the end of last year and exceeded fully-year NPL of CNY 99.2 billion in 2013.
By the end of the first half of this year, joint-stock banks' NPL outstanding was CNY 136.6 billion, growing CNY 27.5 billion over the beginning of this year, and NPL ratio rose 0.14 percentage points to 1%; city commercial banks' NPL outstanding was CNY 68 billion, adding CNY 13.2 billion over the beginning of this year, and NPL ratio rose 0.11 percentage points to 0.99%.
By the end of June, large commercial banks' NPL was close to CNY 400 billion. NPL outstanding grew CNY 45.7 billion over the beginning of this year to CNY 395.7 billion, and NPL ratio increased 0.05 percentage points to 1.05%; rural commercial banks' NPL outstanding grew CNY 14.6 billion to CNY 87.2 billion and NPL ratio increased 0.05 percentage points to 1.72%; foreign banks' NPL outstanding grew CNY 1.2 billion and NPL ratio was up 0.08 percentage points.
