Aug. 15--Looking for something fun to do this weekend? There are plenty of entertainment options in Hampton Roads.
First off, Saturday is National Roller Coaster Day, and last time we checked, Busch Gardens in Williamsburg had some good ones. When's the last time you rode Apollo's Chariot?
Saturday is also double fun in Downtown Hampton -- the Freaky Kon-Tiki makeshift raft race during the day, and the weekly block party starting at 6 p.m. with energetic performances in store from guitarist Deke Dickerson and rockabilly legends Southern Culture on the Skids.
Also in music, a couple of Grammy winners are at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Portsmouth -- the acoustic trio Nickel Creek on Friday, and Kenny Loggins on Saturday.
The Watermen's Museum in Yorktown is hosting a Family Pirate Palooza on Friday night, and Hampton's annual African Landing Day Commemoration is a two-day festival that wraps up with a concert on Saturday night at The American Theatre in Phoebus.
