BRIEF: FedEx declares 20 cent dividend

Aug. 15--FedEx's board on Friday declared a 20 cents a share dividend, up from 15 cents a share a year ago.

The dividend is payable Oct. 1 to stockholders of record at close of business Sept. 10.

It's the second straight quarter for a 20-cent dividend. The board first added the nickel in July, departing from a long-held practice of increasing dividends no more than 1 cent a quarter annually.

he dividend announcement comes as FedEx management gears up for a first-quarter earnings report Sept. 17 and the company's annual meeting in MemphisSept. 29.

Analysts are expecting earnings of $1.94 a share for the June-August quarter, up 26 percent from a year earlier.
