What: VEDC, a leading non-profit lender to small businesses, in partnership with the UBS Elevating Entrepreneurs initiative, is hosting anaccess to capital event, Ascent: Capital & Connections, for small business owners on Tuesday, August 19, 2014.

In 2013, VEDC partnered with UBS to create the Chicagoland Business Opportunity Fund (CBOF), providing loans of $50,000 to $250,000 to qualified small businesses in the Chicago area. The effort is a component of UBSís Elevating Entrepreneurs initiative, one of the firmís flagship philanthropic initiatives focused on providing small businesses with mentorship, access to capital and education.

CBOF is making available loans to businesses that do not qualify for traditional small business bank loans, which is aligned with VEDCís mission to help create jobs and promote economic development, with an emphasis on women- and minority-owned businesses and businesses located in low- to moderate-income communities.
