BRIEF: C&K Market emerges from bankruptcy, announces changes

Aug. 13--C&K Market, the parent company of Ray's Food Place, has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy nine months after seeking the protection of bankruptcy court in order to re-organize its finance.

The Brookings-based company announced this morning that it has new financial partners --Crystal Financial LLC and GE Capital, Corporate Retail Finance -- an unveiled a new initiative, Ray's Healthy Living, which integrates natural and organic items with traditional groceries.

"Other store enhancements are in the works," company officials said.

In addition to the Ray's brand, C&K also operates Shop Smart and C&K Market stores. It currently operates 43 grocery stores in Oregon and Northern California
