Aug. 12--Weir bows out

of Peach Fest

Former Grateful Dead member Bob Weir and his band, Ratdog, will not perform at this weekend's Peach Music Festival at Montage Mountain.

A message on Mr. Weir's website states that the remainder of this year's tour dates have been canceled due to unspecified circumstances. Mr. Weir was scheduled to perform as Friday's main stage headliner at the Allman Brothers Band-hosted Peach Music Festival.

Krall brings tour

to Wilkes-Barre

Grammy Award-winning jazz artist Diana Krall will bring her "Wallflower" tour to Wilkes-Barre'sF.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 26. The show, set for 8 p.m., is the only one slated for Pennsylvania on the tour. Tickets are $49.50 to $125, plus fees, and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through the Kirby Center box office, by phone at 570-826-1100 and online at ticket

master.com. A special Kirby Center member presale will begin Wednesday at noon.

Greenhouse group

plans fundraiser

The Greenhouse Project will hold a fundraiser this week for Laurie's Community Garden, an initiative at Vine Street and North Irving Avenue.

Guests can stop by Jack's Draft House, 801 Prescott Ave., on Thursday, and try ethnic foods, appetizers made from locally grown ingredients and herb-infused cocktails as well as check out raffle baskets. A cash bar also will be available.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Proceeds will benefit Fall Harvest Day, a free day of family-friendly activities such as scarecrow building and healthy-cooking demonstrations.
