Official Backs Mineral Resources Profits

The Angolan State Secretary for Geology and Mining, Miguel Bondo JÚnior, Monday in Luanda urged for creation of mechanisms for transformation of mineral resources into financial earnings in order to boost the manufacturing sector in Africa.

The official was speaking at the opening of the first meeting of the Bureau of Ministers Responsible for Mineral Resources in Africa, an event of experts that precede the meeting of Ministers scheduled for Thursday.

Miguel JÚnior said that the transformation of mineral resources will boost the industrial growth and development of African countries.

The official pointed out the evolution of the institutionalisation process of the African Centre for Mining Development, launched in Maputo, Mozambique, in 2013, among the aspects comprising the agenda of experts meeting.

The creation of the centre will be monitored by the Commission of African Union tasked with implementing the African Mining Vision and promote the stability and cooperation of the sector.

The Bureau of Ministers Responsible for Mineral Resources is made of Mozambique in representation of the southern region of the continent

, Ethiopia (eastern region), Chad (centre), Algeria (north) and Ghana (west).

The capital of Angola, Luanda, will host the event.
