Aug. 12--MIDDLETOWN -- The 2014 Motorcycle Mania has been postponed due to expected inclement weather and will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Main Street.

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce is expecting more than 5,000 motorcycles for the 9th annual event. Main Street will be lined with live music, food trucks, vendors and other entertainment with thousands of spectators in attendance.

WMRD/WLIS radio will broadcast live in front of the chamber of commerce office, and there will be live music in front of Bank of America, on the South Green and Plaza Middlesex.

There is a suggested $5 donation per rider, and $10 for motorcycles entered in awards categories. Proceeds benefit Middletown youth programs.

"All bikes are welcome to come out for the largest one-day summer motorcycle event in New England which will once again be a fantastic time for everyone involved. This event is an opportunity for the City of Middletown to showcase its many fine restaurants and retail shops in the beautiful downtown district," chamber President Larry McHugh said in a news release.
