AICPA Awards Keith VanHoy With Prestigious P. Thomas Austin Scholarship

August 12, 2014

NEW YORK, Aug. 12 -- The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants issued the following news release:

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) is pleased to announce that Keith VanHoy, a CPA and tax partner with Nichols, Stopp & VanHoy, LLC, has been awarded the 2014 P. Thomas Austin Personal Financial Planning Division Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded each year to a CPA who has five to 15 years' experience and either practices estate planning or is a member of an estate planning organization. VanHoy's scholarship was presented at the most recent AICPA Estate Planning Conference in Chicago.

"The rigorous educational requirements to become a CPA provide the solid grounding in finance, accounting, tax and other areas needed to offer highest caliber financial and estate planning services to their clients. The Institute established the scholarship to encourage young CPAs to use their financial expertise in the practice of estate planning," said Robert Keebler, CPA and AICPA conference chairman. "By working with attorneys, insurance agents and other professionals to develop and execute an estate plan in his own practice, Keith clearly demonstrates how the CPA is the critical link in comprehensive estate planning."

The AICPA established the scholarship in 2010 in honor of the CPA who chaired the Advanced Estate Planning Conference for three decades and is now chair emeritus. Austin specializes in estate and financial planning. Formerly with Ernst & Young, he serves as a consultant to CPA firms, law firms and professional organizations.
