Aug. 11--The former owner of Edenz Vegetarian Restaurant is opening a similar eatery at a new location.

Gerard Andre plans to open Back to Ednez on Aug. 28 at 3348 Vineville Ave. with a reopening celebration noon-2 p.m. The event will feature taste testing and live music.

The former vegetarian restaurant, which closed in December 2008, was at 617 Poplar St. It opened in 2004. Andre and his wife Karen, opened a second location in Warner Robins earlier in 2008 but closed it after a few months due to slow business.

Andre said in the release that a void was created since it was Macon's only restaurant with an all vegetarian and vegan menu.

"We greatly underestimated just how much of an impact we were making," Andre said in the release. "Between the constant request of our customers and the need for a healthy alternative for those eating out, it was impossible to stay closed. As a result we dedicated ourselves to making it available again."
