BRIEF: Great Bend 'Party' headlined by reality TV contestant

Aug. 11--GREAT BEND -- There's a Party in the Park, and everyone's invited.

Events are lined up throughout the day Saturday at Veteran's Lake. In the morning, beginning at 9 a.m., there's the Tuff Enuff Obstacle Run, followed by Oozefest Mud Volleyball and dog park fun and demonstrations.

Afternoon activities start at 3 p.m. with a pie eating contest, community mural project and caricature drawings. Other events include the Optimist Inflatable Fun Zone, Big Brothers Big Sisters pig feed and a car show.

The party kicks into high gear at 6:30 p.m., with live music by Ricky Fugitt, King Midas and the Mufflers, and headliner Curtis Grimes, a country singer who appeared on the first season of the hit NBC television show "The Voice."

A fireworks show caps the excitement at 10 p.m.
