Aug. 01--Exhibition Openings

Sunday at Museum of Art: The North Dakota Museum of Art has three exhibitions opening Sunday. One is "Fractured: North Dakota's Oil Boom Exhibition," in which photographer Terry Evans and journalist and filmmaker Elizabeth Farnsworth explore the impact of the current oil boom on the Williston Basin region. "Bead" by Glen Hanson is also opening, displaying a Lakota technique consisting of beads layered down in rows of seven on deer hide. "Robert Rauschenberg: Four Decades of Work On Paper" will open the same day featuring lithographs and prints. Cost: $5 suggested donation. Info: (701) 777-4195.

'Spring Awakening'

Tuesday through Aug. 9 at Empire: The Empire Arts Center is holding a production of "Spring Awakening" at 7:30 p.m. This rock musical follows a group of late 19th century students through a journey of self-discovery and coming-of-age, exploring themes of morality, youth, sexuality and family. This show is not suitable for children. Cost: $20 adult, $15 students and members. Info: (701) 746-5500.

Piano Talk Concerts

Tuesday in Grafton, N.D.: Brent Hermans is playing piano with a few cameo vocals as part of a Piano Talk Concert at 7:30 p.m. on select Tuesdays throughout the summer. The next one will be Tuesday at St. John's Dining Hall, 1515 Western Ave., Grafton, N.D. with the theme "Around the World in 90 Minutes." Additional dates: Aug. 19. Cost: Free. Info: (701) 520-2680.

Mini Art Exhibit

Through Sept. 5 at Thief River Falls Public Library: The Northwest Regional Arts Council is holding a mini art exhibit that will travel to several regional libraries throughout the summer and fall. The exhibit includes original paintings, photography, drawings, pottery and more and is now at the Thief River Falls Public Library,102 First St. E., through Sept. 5.
